POLICY PAPER FOR PROSPERITY OF PAKISTAN

All in this paper is my own view. Any one may disagree & give suggestions to improve.

Your question about what politicians should be like, how politics in Pakistan should be and how can we do it, is tried to be answered in this paper.

Everyone knows about the ideal situation should be look like but I will start my debate from the current flaws (problems) & gradual remedy (solution) for it, pertaining to different fields related to politics. My focus will be at the highest level although there are problems at mid-level and lowest level too.

In my opinion these are the major areas where the highest level of politicians must address.

·        Political Will

·        Economy

·        Broader Vision

·        Moral & Ethical Values

·        Competence

·        Unity

·        Coordination

·        Mistrust on Nation

Let’s see one by one.

Political Will

Although this is the first step, but I will describe this at the end with full details and I have reasons why. Let’s move on the further steps first.

Economy

Problems

·        Corruption: There are different types of corruption (revenue collection, cronyism, nepotism etc)  at the highest level.

·        Dollar as the foreign currency exchange.

Solution

·        Stop inflation by just printing currency.

·        Reduce the size of cabinets.

·        Make FBR independent & strong enough to be able to collect from the culprits. This is not a big deal, if we can make Judiciary independent thus we can do this too whether we have to adopt any mean to do this.

·        Alternative of 3^rd step (a harsh step/ an ideal step): Abolish the taxation system. Make the FBR offices in every city where peoples deposit the money according to their will & capacity. Don’t undermine this nation. The nation loves PAKISTAN & its peoples. Good examples of donation in earthquake & flood. One may disagree but this is going to happen soon in the bright & futuristic PAKISTAN. This I can prove with full details & logic but at any other place & time.

·        Don’t purchase more dollars as a foreign currency exchange, rather use barter trade system or gold backed system with the gulf & neighboring countries. This is one of the major factor of inflation & the cause of the world economic disaster which we have seen in the US & UK countries but the economy of middle east & other eastern countries especially KSA, China & Russia (They don’t depend on dollar now a days) have risen up.

Moral & Ethical Values

Problems

·        Charges of Corruption

·        Desire of rule

·        Language used in politics

Solution

·        Civilized politicians resign even on corruption perception.

·        Desire to rule the public makes them to deny the allegation even proofs of corruption.

·        Language of politicians must be harmonic & progressive style to give hope to the public.

Broader Vision

Components of broader vision are:

o   Foreign Affairs

o   International Geopolitics

o   Defense Affairs

o   Economic Affairs

o   Large Infrastructures for Energy, Water & Food.

·        Politicians don’t have any plans for the above mentioned points. These are futuristic plans & only a leader of broader vision can address these issues. This is one of the reasons of Martial Law that our politicians lack the broader vision while Armed Forces have, up to their extent & their concerns.

·        Unfortunately unlike our organized armed forces, our politicians are not organized and well trained which leads to their consensus of broader vision.

Competence

Problems

·        Incompetent Politicians, Beaurocracy, Heads of Large Profitable Corporations.

Solution

·        Not the lack of competent persons in PAKISTAN but the appointment procedures (no advertisement, discretionary powers of politicians).

Unity

Problems

·        No consensus on National Issues

·        Consensus on self-interesting Issues

Solution

·        Consensus on minimum point agenda

·        PAKISTAN future must be first priority.

Coordination

Problems

·        Lack of coordination among the executives

·        Mistrust on others.

·        SoSoss Coordination

·        Problems

·        Fear of the power loss.

Solution

·        Reversal of the bulleted points.

Mistrust on Nation

Problems

·        Politicians thinking of undermining the public that they don’t understand anything & vote again at the time of elections on their patriotic speeches only.

·        Hiding the truth from the public.

Solution

·        I think these problems are on the line of solution due to vibrant media that they are exposed before elections. But another lingering problem that these politicians are clever too, they have also understood the media management & the secret funds are also restricting. Now this is the responsibility of anchors of talk shows to expose the culprits cleverly.

Now,

One may think that how to address these all important issues because these problems must be addressed in parallel not sequential. So the answer for this is:

POLITICAL WILL

Because the only, the most important & the most urgent issue is this one, which will lead to solve the other parallel issues.

Political will

Problems

·        Patriotism & Corruption

·        System of Election Commission

·        System of Judiciary

·        System of Law & Order

Solution

·        Traitors can’t show political will

·        As a nation, on the whole our public is not corrupt; they are misled & illiterate only. Only the free & fair election commission can give us true results even in the villages.

·        Today this is a good sign but the implementation of verdicts must be ensured.

·        This is linked with the above step.

Now,

One may think that all these steps are known to every politician & public but even then our country is going down. The reason is again the same “POLITICAL WILL”. If political will is there, no problem is here in our beloved country.
